Course Description:
The CanoeKids Program is a fun, dynamic, activity based program designed to introduce participants to basic paddling and safety skills, in both canoes and kayaks. The program introduces skills through a progression of 3 levels and provides instruction at a recreational level at the beginning stages and progresses to include an introduction to racing by the end of the program. It can be easily adapted for participants of all ages.

The CanoeKids Coach Course is a NCCP recognized CanoeKayak Canada coach course. Those completing the course and course assignments will be certified as a NCCP CanoeKids Coach (NCCP Community Coach context). Those taking this course will receive information about teaching introductory canoe/kayak programs and will be certified to teach the Canoe Kids Program.

Who Should Take the CanoeKids Coach Course? 

  • Those who want to teach introductory canoeing and kayaking programs. 
  • Those who want to progress to being a competitive coach in the sport of sprint canoe/kayak;
  • Those who want to coach athletes at multi-sport games including the Saskatchewan Games, NAIG Games, Canada Games and at provincial, regional and national sprint racing competitions. 

NOTE: To be “certified” in CanoeKids, you must take the NCCP Making Ethical Decisions course & Exam
