LTP Program & SSG Coordinator

Location: Regina (Remote work possible)
Position Type: Spring Employment (leading to Summer Employment – funding pending)

Job Title: Learn-To-Paddle Program & Saskatchewan Summer Games Coordinator

Term:

  • Part 1: April – June: Total of 100 hours
  • Part 2: June – August: Potential of 35 – 40 hours/week (if approved for Canada Summer Jobs funding). Approx 280 – 300 hours.

Salary: $17/hour

Job Duties (summary)

  • Objective 1:  Assist the Canoe Kayak Saskatchewan Paddling Development Director with the organization of the Canoe/Kayak event for the Sask Summer Games (July 2024).
  • Objective 2: Organize & Lead the Learn-to-Paddle community sessions.

Requirements: 

  • Able to attend Saskatchewan Summer Games (July 21-24th)
  • Willing to travel
  • Drivers License
  • Criminal record check (required as a condition of employment)
  • Able to work evenings and weekends 
  • Skills to tow a trailer (or strong driving skills + willing to learn)
  • Summer Employment – If CKS is approved for funding for “part 2”, the applicant would need to also meets Canada Summer Job requirements https://www.jobbank.gc.ca/youth (summarized as follows):
    • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period
    • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment, and
    • have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations

Indigenous Program Coordinator

Location: Remote
Position Type: Temporary Employment/Contract Hours

Job Title: Learn-To-Paddle Instructor

Term: 50 hours between April 15 and August 18th, 2024.
Additional hours may be approved based on available funding

Salary: $17/hour – $20/hour (based on qualifications/experience)

Job Duties: Assist the CKS Paddling Development Director (CKSPDD) with the development of Canoe/Kayak programming for Indigenous youth.

  • Focus 1: Preparation for Tony Cote Summer Games
    • Communication with Tribal Councils 
    • Assisting with recruitment (as needed)
    • Assisting with organizing training opportunities
    • Assisting with TCSG logistics (equipment, event set up)
    • Attend the Tony Cote Summer Games (August 10-16).
    • Assisting the CKSPDD as required
  • Focus 2: Program Development
    • Assisting with the development of Summer Camps in Northern Saskatchewan
    • Creating pathways for Indigenous Youth (focusing on ongoing recruitment for NAIG)
    • Identifying communities that would benefit from organized programming and identifying key stakeholders in those communities to assist with program creation
    • Assisting with funding applications and follow-up reports

La Ronge - Summer Camp Coach

Location: La Ronge/Air Ronge
Position Type: June + Summer Employment

Job Title: June Coach + Summer Camp Leaders

Term:

  • Part 1: May/June: Approx 10 hours/week (to a max of 60 hours total)
  • Part 2: July/August: 35 – 40 hours/week (conditional on CSJ funding)

Salary: $15/hour to $17/hour (based on qualifications)

Job Duties:

  • Objectives:
    • Part 1: Run after-school Canoe/Kayak programming for Youth
    • Part 2: Run CKS Youth Canoe/Kayak Summer Program at Montreal River Outpost. NOTE: This position is conditional on Canada Summer Jobs funding.
  • Task to include: 
    • Recruitment of Indigenous Youth; 
    • Take National certification for basic coaching skills in the sport;
    • Attend Regular meetings with CKS Paddling Director (PDD),
    • Administrative duties and computer tasks;
    • Planning, development and execution of summer on-water and on-land programs;
    • Coaching athletes;
    • Designing and executing team-building activities;
    • Equipment maintenance.
