LEARN TO PADDLE WORKSHOPS
Canoe Kayak Saskatchewan (CKS) is committed to supporting & inspiring a passion for paddling in communities across the province.
The Learn To Paddle program looks to connect with organizations, community groups, and outdoor programs that may not have any paddling infrastructure to create introductory paddling experiences. Our program is conscious of accessibility and is committed to reaching diverse and underserved audiences through our programming.
Organizations We Partner With
- Youth Organizations
- Community Groups
- Under-represented populations/equity groups (Newcomers, Tribal Councils, First Nation Communities, 2SLGBTQ+)
- Schools

- Municipalities
- Outdoor Programming
- And more!
What do we do at an LTP Workshop?
CKS works with our partner organizations in each community to tailor every session to the needs or desires of the group.
Paddlers are taught basic safety & technical skills in a fun and welcoming environment that CKS hopes inspires and encourages individuals to be life-long paddlers. We bring all necessary equipment including boats, paddles, and safety gear alongside trained & experienced paddlers to teach these skills.
A Learn To Paddle workshop could even be the first step to establishing a new local paddling club, a process that CKS is eager to support!

2023 Learn to Paddle Program
CKS would like to take a moment to thank our program sponsors for the Learn-to-Paddle program from 2023.
Over 470 individuals were introduced to paddling!
Between June 2023 and March 2024, the CKS Learn-to-Paddle (LTP) program created more than 43 introductory paddling experiences for communities while also educating the public on the long term benefits of paddling and the different types of paddling available around the province.
CKS focused predominantly on areas that did not have established clubs or were limited in their equipment. In addition to summer staff, CKS hired local paddling coaches and/or the CKS staff traveled to locations to conduct these paddling sessions.
Thank you to all the coaches, CKS staff, and volunteers who made this program happen.
But a HUGE thank you to the funding partners who enabled this program to happen.
