Learn-to-Paddle Instructors

Location: Provincial (travel required)
Position Type: Summer Employment

Term: June 27 – August 30, 2025.  8 Weeks, 35 hours/week total of 280 hours.

Salary: $17/hour (based on qualifications)

Job Duties:

  • Objective: Host Learn-to-Paddle (LTP) sessions around SK
  • Task to include: 
    • Attend Regular meetings with CKS Paddling Director (PDD) & LTP Coordinator
    • Take courses / training / certification about canoeing, kayaking, safety etc..
    • Facilitate paddling sessions (instructing)
    • Assist with Paddling session logistics (booking locations, booking accommodation, budgets, promotion)
    • Creation and distribution of digital and printed promotion (Social Media posts and Ads)
    • Communication with schools and other community organizations to promote the project, book paddling sessions
    • Drive a vehicle with a trailer to transport equipment to the paddling sessions sites (load and unload equipment, checking equipment for damage, etc.)
    • Collect all data/forms from paddling sessions and summarize 
    • Maintain contact list of organizations/partners
    • Make recommendations for improvements
    • Attend general CKS meetings (as required)
    • Other project related tasks as directed by PDD

Learn-To-Paddle Instructor/Safety Coordinator

Location: Echo Valley Provincial Park / Fort Qu’Appelle
Position Type: Summer Employment (Full-Time) — Canada Summer Jobs position

Term: June 27 – August 30, 2025.  8 Weeks, 35 hours/week  – Total of 280 hours

Salary: $17/hour (based on qualifications)

Job Duties:

  • Objective: Work in partnership with Canoe Kayak Saskatchewan and Amphibious Response Support Unit (ARSU) to host Learn-to-Paddle (LTP) and Boat Safety awareness and campaigns in the Fort Qu’Appelle area (Echo Valley Provincial Park and surrounding lakes).

  • Task to include: 
    • Attend CKS & ARSU Orientations 
    • Attend Regular meetings with CKS Paddling Director (PDD), LTP Coordinator, and ARSU staff
    • Take courses / training / certifications about canoeing, kayaking, safety etc..
    • Facilitate paddling sessions (instructing)

    • Attend Regular meetings with CKS Paddling Director (PDD),
    • Administrative duties and computer tasks;
    • Planning, development and execution of summer on-water and on-land programs;
    • Coaching athletes;
    • Designing and executing team-building activities;
    • Equipment maintenance.

  • Objective: Develop and Instruct programs at Clearwater Lake Paddlers (Clearwater Lake Regional Park, Kyle, SK)
  • Task to include: 
    • Take National certification for basic coaching skills in the sport;
    • Attend meetings;
    • Administrative duties and computer tasks;
    • Promotion & Recruitment for Summer programming;
    • Planning, development and execution of summer on-water and on-land programs and team-building activities;
    • Instructing athletes;
    • Equipment maintenance.
    • Provide assistance in the management and delivery of initiatives specific to Indigenous Program Development, PaddleAll & Para (Participants with disabilities), programming for Under-represented populations (ex. Newcomers, remote/rural, Black and other racialized, Indigenous youth, 2SLGBTQI+) and general public
