The main goal of the event is to promote water and boating safety on our lakes and rivers here in Saskatchewan. \nSummary of event:\nOn July 11th\, 2026 Teams will line up to see who can be the first to cross the finish line at the “Echo Lake Plywood Regatta & Waterfest” Teams of 4 people will build a boat from plywood and race along the mighty waters of Echo lake competing against other teams to see who can be the first to cross the finish line. \nThe object of this event is for competitors to build a boat with materials (plywood\, screws\, nails and duct tape – that we supply) in a limited amount of time and one or more member of the team race the boat around a course to the finish line. This year teams will participate in 2 races in the afternoon! \nTeams will consist of 2-4 persons of all ages (with at least 1 adult) and can have 1 or more paddlers. \nCompetitors are required to bring their own hand tools (hammer\, saw\, pliers\, etc) we will allow the use of cordless saws (110 volt power is not available). \nRegister your team by June 15th 2026. Please note: The cost to enter a team is $400 per team. \nTo register a team\, please send your request to arsu@arsu.ca and we will reply with a registration form and other details. \nWaterfest\nWhile teams prepare for the Regatta-Race\, visitors to the event can participate in a variety of activities that will be on site on shore and on the water. Non profit and community organizations\, businesses as well as partner First Responders will have a variety of programs that are both informative and fun for all ages. Food concessions and vendors will be on site and our Master of Ceremonies will provide full coverage of the event and programs. \nThis year’s Regatta is dedicated in memory of James ‘Jim’ Pratt 1955-2026\, from Muscowpetung Saulteaux Nation who served in the Regina Police Service and as an instructor for Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s Aboriginal police prep program. Jim was instrumental in building bridges and relationships and is an inspiration to all who serve. “Your legacy will live on Jim\, and this year we dedicate our event to you”! \nWe hope to you’ll be a part of the most exciting summer beach event this summer in Saskatchewan! \nwww.arsu.ca email: arsu@arsu.ca Tel: 306 529-1872
