The program introduces skills through a progression of 3 levels and provides instruction at a recreational level at the beginning stages and progresses to include an introduction to racing by the end of the program. It can be easily adapted for participants of all ages. \nThe CanoeKids Coach Course is a NCCP recognized CanoeKayak Canada coach course. Those completing the course and course assignments will be certified as a NCCP CanoeKids Coach (NCCP Community Coach context). Those taking this course will receive information about teaching introductory canoe/kayak programs and will be certified to teach the Canoe Kids Program. \nWho Should Take the CanoeKids Coach Course?  \n\nThose who want to teach introductory canoeing and kayaking programs. \nThose who want to progress to being a competitive coach in the sport of sprint canoe/kayak;\nThose who want to coach athletes at multi-sport games including the Saskatchewan Games\, NAIG Games\, Canada Games and at provincial\, regional and national sprint racing competitions. \n\nNOTE: To be “certified” in CanoeKids\, you must take the NCCP Making Ethical Decisions course & Exam

Coaches will need to take: \n\nMulti-Sport Modules\nCore Training\n\nSprint Small Boats – ELCC Core Training\nThe core training Entry-Level Coaching Course includes the practical and theoretical components of coaching sprint K1 and C1. Learn how to effectively plan practices according to various energy systems. Gain a greater appreciation of technique and understand how to analyze the kayak and canoe stroke. Coaches will also discuss best practices for running safe and well organized practices. Format: 12-16 hour workshop. \nOVERVIEW OF COMPETITION INTRODUCTION PATHWAY\nThis stream is for coaches interested in working with athletes to help them reach their competitive goals. Coaches entering this stream typically have previous coaching experience or have been an athlete in the sport. Starting at the regional or provincial level\, coaches tend to work with athletes over the long-term to improve performance. A coach in this stream could eventually become a National Team Coach working with world-class athletes who travel the globe representing Canada. \nENTRY-LEVEL COMPETITION COACH (ELCC) – SPRINT Core Courses \n\nSprint small boats\nWar Canoe\nDragon Boat\n\nMULTISPORT WORKSHOPS\nThese are introductory workshops for becoming a competitive coach in canoe kayak. ELCC candidates must take the following NCCP multisport workshops before the ELCC core workshop in order to be “Trained” as an ELCC Coach. \n\nMaking Ethical Decisions\nPlan a Practice\nBasic Nutrition\nTeaching and Learning\n\nMore information regarding the workshops can be found at saskcoach.ca \nCERTIFICATION\nAfter completing all required assignments and modules\, coaches may request an “Evaluation” to become “Certified”. The cost is $75 and this can be requested through RAMP.
