Learn to Paddle @ Lac Pelletier Regional Park

Free for kids 10 years old or younger, accompanied by an adult.

All people are welcome to come have some fun on the water, using a canoe and/or a kayak during the LPI program delivery. We will provide all the equipment including lifejackets and safety kits.

We will be following all the Covid-19 protocol during the LPI program. A complete clean up is done of all the equipment and accessories immediately after they have been used by a participant.

YCKC Developmental Regatta @ York Lake, SK
Aug 14 @ 9:30 am – 5:00 pm
Athletes:
  1. All paddlers 15 and under
  2. All 1st year paddlers (any age – adults too!!)
  3. New canoers (may have been previous experienced kayakers)
Fees:
  1. $30/athlete
  2. Fee includes a meal from the canteen
  3. Please submit one club payment (cheques payable to Yorkton Canoe Kayak Club) with final list of athletes. E-transfers can be sent to yorktoncanoekayakclub.ca
Races:
  1. approx. 9:30am to 5:00pm (exact time subject to change)
  2. Distances are 200m, 500m, 1000m
  3. There will be no heats for races
  4. Dragon Boat races and fun races may be added in order to create a fun filled and exciting day!
Whipper-In:
  1. All athletes will “whip-in” before their race
  2. Please bring your own deck # and pinnies 
  3. Save your duct tape – For boats that do not have a Deck # holder, please have athletes wear a numbered pinnie (available from whipper-in)
Medal Presentation:
  1. There will be two “podium” medal presentations: lunch & at the end of the day
Lunch/Supper:
  1. Athletes will be provided with a coupon to the canteen to use for lunch or supper
  2. Please advise Coach Jessica if there are any vegetarians or food allergies
Other:
  1. Parents/Coaches are welcome to camp on site (no charge) but please note that we do not have running water at YCKC. There is an “official” campground 500m away (York Lake Regional Park)
  2. Let us know in advance if your club requires any equipment (boats, paddle, lifebelts, etc.)
  3. Location details:
    1. Yorkton Canoe and Kayak Club is located at York Lake Regional Park, Yorkton, SK.
    2. There is a $5 fee/car for the Regional Park (new 2021)
    3. Canteen will be onsite. Please let me know of any allergies
    4. Porta-potties will be provided but there is no running water at YCKC. Full washrooms can be found at the campground 500m from club (require park pass)
    5. Parking will be on the gravel road outside club, at campground, and in other designated areas
Volunteers:
  1. We ask that each club bring at least one volunteer to help make the day go smoothly for our athletes/coaches. Please submit your volunteer’s name before regatta day. No experience required!! If you have an area of particular interest or experience (i.e. running canteen, officials, finish line timer) please let us know.

Prairie Cup Regatta @ Wascana Lake

The event will be a full race-card sprint paddling event for age categories ranging from U10 to Masters,
featuring the addition of Stand-Up Paddleboard, OC-1, Dragonboat and knock-out events. This will be an excellent opportunity to bring your whole club out to enjoy a final weekend of racing and team-bonding during the shortened competition season that we have experienced this year. Below is a list of events, please consider coming out to enjoy a weekend of racing in Regina.

Red River Paddle Challenge @ Winnipeg, MB

The Red River Paddle Challenge is a 44 kilometer (~27 miles) long distance paddling race on the Red River beginning in Winnipeg, Manitoba and ending down river in Lockport, Manitoba. We welcome all types of paddling craft, including kayaks, canoes, surfskis, outrigger canoes, stand up paddleboards, voyageur canoe, or other craft. If you don’t see your preferred boat/board class listed here, please contact us.

Schedule of Events:

6:15 a.m. Registration and check in opens (St Vital Park boat launch, Winnipeg)

8:00 a.m. Check-in closes. All boats must be staged by 8:15 a.m.

8:30 a.m. Mandatory safety briefing – St Vital Park boat launch

9:00 a.m. SHARP – Race Start – All classes

12:00 p.m. until the last paddler(s) arrive – Finish line celebrations at Half Moon Drive In, Lockport MB.

All finishers will receive a RRPC finisher medal upon completion of the race. Top three finishers in each class/category with more than five competitors will receive prizes or recognition as they finish.

Register before July 31st for the early bird price of $75/paddler! Registration closes September 18th.
