Volunteers Make the Difference – Remembering Merv Woods with Regina Marathon Canoe Club

We all need volunteers. Volunteers are the driving force to get things done. They possess drive and initiative, they are responsible, and work on their own accord without needing to be assigned, ordered, or told what to do.

They love their community and want to see it flourish and thrive. They aren’t looking for payment but relish in the success of their community.

Merv Woods was one such volunteer with the Regina Marathon Canoe Club.

During his time with the club he became a certified coach, and then shared his knowledge with countless paddlers, both new and old. He helped our club grow by building infrastructure, improving the management,
leadership and governance of our local club as well as the provincial organization.

Above all else, Merv shared his love of paddling which permeated out to all who were blessed to be around him. In recognition of his dedication to our club, the Lumsden boat house was named The Merv Woods Boathouse!
