Saskatchewan Family honored by True Sport

Vincent Family – True Sport Award Presentation – K. Levit Photo Mom, Fiona Vincent (a former paddler in past Games), represents the Vincent’s home province of Saskatchewan; son, Fearghus was Coach of Team Yukon; son, Kenzie, makes Manitoba home and is a Coordinator at the Athletes Village; while sister Lexy – who won a silver medal in 200m right before the Standing O! – is part of Team Ontario.   Canoe Kayak Saskatchewan caught up with Kasey Liboiron of True Sport to find out about the presentation they made to the Vincent family at the 2017 Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg:   She tells us that True Sport was “… promoting an initiative called “True Sport Moments”, where we were asking athletes, coaches, officials, parents and participants to send us stories/moments throughout the Games that exemplified one or more of our True Sport Principles (Go For It, Play Fair, Keep if Fun, Respect Others, Stay Health, Include Everyone and Give Back).” Now, many in Saskatchewan are aware of the ways that the Vincent family embodies these values and it was through this submission process that True Sport was “… sent the story of how the Vincent’s [were enjoying] a family reunion in Winnipeg [while also being] able to celebrate their favorite sport, Canoe-Kayak.”  Liboiron shared that True Sport “… was super inspired about this because True Sport is founded on the notion that GOOD SPORT can make a great difference, it’s all about bringing community and family together; and the Vincent’s showed us just that!”  ...
