11th Annual Churchill River Whitewater Festival

For last year’s festival theme we were looking back on the great times that we had over the first decade that the festival has been running. The thing that really struck us last year was all the young new faces and youthful energy at the festival. It really made us realize that a whole new generation of paddlers are beginning to enjoy the beautiful natural scenery and amazing paddling of Saskatchewan’s north. Keeping this in mind and given the fact that the festival is now in it’s second decade, this year we want to look forward and give back to this amazing place and community. So, we are planning to use the festival to try to revitalize the Friends of the Churchill stewardship program. The area has seen incredible growth in the number of people visiting over the past several years. While it is wonderful to see more and more people enjoying the Churchill River, it has impacted the local ecology, portage trails, and campsites in the area. We are hoping that going forward, we can use the festival as a platform for raising funds to make improvements to the area and serve as an educational tool for participants.
